Estate Sales and Liquidations

Estate Sales & Liquidations in Fort Lauderdale & South Florida

Estate Sales

An estate sale is a focused event where some or all of the estate's tangible property are displayed and put on sale, usually for 2–3 days over the weekend and typically taking place at the estate itself. Picture it as a curated showroom, a limited-time affair where treasured belongings take center stage. We meticulously organize our sales, along with cleaning, staging, and pricing the items at fair market value. Sales are most appropriate for estates that may not require complete liquidation or consignment of specific items.

Estate Liquidations

Estate liquidation is more comprehensive. Estate liquidation aims to maximize the financial return for the estate by identifying high-value pieces and leveraging various sales channels. Examples of these types of items are high-end jewelry, fine art, or coin collections. It thus extends beyond an estate sale and can include auctioning specific items, selling to dealers, conducting private sales, and selling items online or to specialized buyers. Another difference is that estate liquidations can include more aspects of the estate including stocks and bonds and real property. Sometimes estate liquidations take the form of an auction, where a single buyer will bid for the entirety of the estate. Some reasons people choose to have liquidations are that they have particularly valuable items; they only want to part with a selection of the estate's items rather than all of them; or conversely they think they can find a single buyer for the whole of the estate; they live in an area or gated community that does not allow for estate sales; or the estate does not have enough items to constitute a full sale.

Which is Best for You?

Both estate sales and liquidations serve similar purposes. Estate sales focus on public sales of a wide range of items over a short period, whereas estate liquidations involve a more strategic approach through various selling methods. Which is best for you depends on the estate's circumstances, the nature of the items, and your specific desired outcomes. We would love to schedule a free consultation and determine which approach is best for you. Please call us today.
